The Windhoek Central Hospital was commissioned in 1982 and became fully operational as a health facility in 1984.

After independence, the hospital remained a government facility and was identified as the National Referral Centre for specialized health care services.  

The Windhoek Central Hospital has a bed capacity of 855 patients. The uniqueness of the hospital lies in the variety of specialists for the country.

NB: For ICU Visitors ONLY, Maximum 6 people per patient, These must be the same people seeing the patient everyday until the patient is discharged.
